The Roland TD513 is the space-saving entry point to the V-Drums 5 Series: an electronic drum kit built around the expandable V51 sound module. It is designed for drummers who practise at home, record in a studio and play small stages.
The V51 uses the flagship sound engine from Roland's V71, with a multi-sampled library made with Drum Workshop (DW), studio-grade EQ, compression and reverb, and sample import. Compared with the V31, it adds three digital pad inputs, four analogue trigger inputs, two direct outputs and a mono/stereo main output. The kit pairs it with a PD-12P snare with positional sensing, PD-8H and PD-10H toms, a stand-mounted VH-10 hi-hat, CY-12C-T and CY-14R-T crashes and a three-zone CY-16R-T ride on the MDS-Standard 3 rack.
Can you expand it later? Yes: swap in Roland digital snare, ride and hi-hat pads via the three digital inputs. Does it work with a Mac via USB? Yes: USB-C carries multi-channel audio and MIDI to your DAW, and Bluetooth streams backing tracks.
A strong base for drummers who want a kit that grows towards a full digital setup.
